What We Believe

People like to be with others that like the same things or think a similar way. But what makes us different from say a sport club or a group of friends? The difference is that we meet together to celebrate, talk about and worship Jesus.

Jesus is so important to us we even want to share him with you. Some of the things written here you may not like. You may even want to stop reading and forget about us. But please, hear us out. We want to show you why we think this is so important:

We Know There Is A God

Have you looked into the night sky? There are billions of stars, planets and asteroids. The universe is huge. Everything around us almost screams out that there is something that created them. Psalm 19:1-6 tells us:

The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands (Psalm 19:1)

We know that God has always existed, that he created our universe and everything in it. We know that he created it to show his glory.

We Know We (People) Messed Up

No one likes to hear they have done the wrong thing. Accepting blame for something is hard but at the same time, even a short honest look at ourselves tells us that there is a real problem. Jesus tells us what a well-lived life looks like:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength and love your neighbour like you love yourself. (Mark 12:-31)

Our problem is that we don’t live like that, in fact we live nothing like that and God is angry with us. He should be – we live in this fantastic world He created but don’t treat Him or others the right way. The Bible calls this way of living “sin” and tells us that God will punish us for it. Believe it or not, Jesus spoke more about this than anyone else in the Bible:

But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! (Luke 12:5)

It all sounds pretty harsh, doesn’t it? But Jesus wants us to know serious the problem of sin is so that we can learn about the wonderful solution…

We Know Jesus Is The Only Way Back To God

Jesus doesn’t just show us how messed up we are – He also sorts the problem out for us. One of His first followers Peter described the amazing solution in this way:

Jesus took our sins in his body on the [cross], that we might stop sinning and live the right way. By his wounds you were healed. (1Pet. 2:24)

Jesus’ amazing loving solution is to take the punishment that we deserve on Himself. He did that by dying on the Cross for us. At that one moment God punished our sins in Him. If we trust what He did there we are forgiven!

It’s almost unbelievable, but it’s true. And not only did Jesus die for us He also rose again from the dead to prove that He was king over everything.

Christians are people who follow Jesus the risen King – not because we’re good but because we know how bad we are and how much Jesus has done for us.

We Know God Also Gave Us His Word (The Bible) and His Spirit

We know all of this because of the Bible. Here’s what another of Jesus’ followers has to say about that:

Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness so that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work. (2Timothy 3:16-17)

The Bible tells us all about how good Jesus is and what it means to follow Him. Jesus also said He would send the Holy Spirit to live in those who love and trust Him:

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. (John 14:16-17)

It sounds a bit crazy but it’s the experience of every Christian. The Holy Spirit helps us live for Jesus and understand His word, the Bible.

We Want To Share This With Others

We think this is all such great news that we want to let everyone else know! Can you blame us?
